Anne Carson’s Ecstatic Minimalism
Ἔρος δηὖτέ μ' ὀ λυσιμέλης δόνει, γλυκύπικρον ἀμάχανον ὄρπετον Eros the melter of limbs (now again) stirs me— sweetbitter unmanageable creature who steals in I remember the “melter of limbs.” (Compare it to “loosener of limbs,” an ungainlier translation that makes Eros sound like a personal trainer.)
