Japanese researchers have tested coconut-based biofuel in a small jet engine. The fuel blend achieved thermal efficiency comparable to conventional kerosene. Tests found lower emissions of unburned hydrocarbons, but carbon monoxide emissions increased. Researchers say further testing is needed before the fuel could be used commercially.
