The distinguished New Orleans-born musician Wynton Marsalis has worn many hats: dynamic trumpeter, intrepid composer and bandleader, and artistic director for Jazz at Lincoln Center, which he founded, in 1987. He is a Pulitzer Prize winner and a multi-Grammy holder—the only to win in both jazz and classical in the same year—but, chiefly, he is an ambassador for those traditional forms across generations.
